Bone x-rays are the fastest and easiest way for your doctor to view and assess bone fractures, injuries and joint abnormalities. Radiography or x-ray imaging uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of any bone in the body. It is commonly used to diagnose fractured bones or joint misalignment, arthritic changes and scoliosis.
Modern x-ray systems have very controlled x-ray beams and dose control methods to minimize stray (scatter) radiation. This ensures that those parts of a patient's body not being imaged receive minimal radiation exposure.
Drs. Maxwell work with several imaging centers in the hill country and can make a recommendation if imaging is thought to be necessary.
